About Me
I studied Fine Artist at De Montfort University, Leicester
I live in a rural town in Leicestershire, in the East Midlands, near green land with plenty of lovely walks
I love The Arts and enjoy music, performing, singing - you name it, it brings me a smile
I also have roles as a Wellbeing champion & Mental Health First Aider.
I love producing art most days. To me, creativity, health & wellness go hand in hand
I think hugs are essential – try it for 20 seconds, see how you feel!
We love being outside in our campervan and going to festivals = best days ever!
Regular fitness and strength training is really important to me mentally and physically
I believe that if we approach life with a balanced view, we would be a lot better off for it.
For me, aside from Art being great for our wellbeing, Art is a real passion.
I graduated from De Montfort Uni in Leicester and thoroughly enjoyed my years there. It was a great experience and one that stretched the creative boundaries to help me become an artist in my own right. I experimented, as you should at uni, on a number of mediums. Painting and drawing ended up being 'my thing' that I continued with and enjoyed working with the most.
I now work full time as an Artist in between being a busy mum of one and love what I do. I create original works but also work as a commission artist.
My own works are inspired by connection whether this is with the outdoors, nature, life-experiences, people or places. Drawing on this continuous theme, I use emotion, movement, colour and mark making to create my original abstract impressionist pieces. I use acrylic paint as my main medium when working on canvas, but I also like to use other mediums such as oil paint, metallic spray paint, marker pen and gold leaf to add different dimension and texture to my paintings, buildings the pieces up as I go. For my more figurative illustrations, I use pen and metallic silver and gold marker and for portraits, well, pencil or watercolour, adding pen and metallic marker for added detail and dimension. I use Winsor and Newton products, as well as Artistro, Edding and Stabilo Products.
My original art, prints, products and accessories are all available to buy either here, on Etsy and Redbubble shops. You can also get in touch to discuss a personal commission.
Many artists, new and old inspire me everyday. those who has remained old favourites are by Matisse, Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Peter Lanyon and Terry Setch.

ART FOR WELLNESS
Art and creativity is great for our mental health and wellbeing in so many ways. It can help us to practice mindfulness, manage stress and help to lead positive lives. As an Artist I know how much creating art and being creative means to me and how important it is for my health and wellbeing. I studied Art Therapy and have always been interested in the benefits. I now use doodle exercises and find the process really helps me. Having suffered with trauma and mental health myself it’s really important that I can process emotion, express feeling and create positivity in my life. And I do this through being creative. I now champion wellness and offer Doodling Workshops either face to face or online where participants can learn how to create Doodles and explore the benefits of Doodling for positive mental health and wellbeing. Creative meditative art exercises are a great way to find that inner calm, help refocus and declutter our minds, and its easy to adopt as a go to exercise as part of our own wellness activities. If you would like to know more about my workshops get in touch, or you can read more in my blog.
